LG Ice Maker Repairs Hartbeespoort

LG fridge-freezers are the other Korean mainstay in Hartbeespoort kitchens, and their ice makers share the same broad architecture as Samsung's — a small mould, a heater to release the cubes, a feeler or sensor to detect ice level, and a water path that runs through a filter and inlet valve. The faults are similar, but LG has its own quirks: the in-door ice room on some side-by-side models runs colder, which can over-freeze the mould, and LG's sensor-based detection occasionally misreads a full bin when it isn't.

Common LG ice maker faults

• Not making ice — frozen fill tube, failed inlet valve, or a faulty ice-maker assembly. LG's diagnostic mode can test the assembly in place.
• Over-frozen mould — ice welded solid and won't release; the mould heater or the freezer temperature setting is at fault.
• Sensor reads "full" when empty — the ice-level sensor or its lever is stuck or iced up.

LG water and refrigeration issues

As with Samsung, the water path is the usual villain. The filter and inlet valve dominate LG ice maker failures; a frozen fill tube is almost always a weeping valve. But LG adds a second consideration: the freezer compartment temperature. An ice maker in a freezer running too cold will over-freeze the mould and stall the harvest, while one running too warm won't freeze the cubes at all.
